Jonathan D. Rosen, J.D.
I originally launched the service as Black Pearl Legal Information Services, PC. The name came from the mythical ship in Pirates of the Caribbean, which Captain Jack Sparrow described as “freedom.” It also reflected another idea I've always appreciated: a pearl is the beautiful result of an irritant in a clam (or oyster). In many ways, good criminal defense lawyers serve the same function — persistently challenging the system to make it better, fairer, and more accountable – being the irritant that creates the beautiful result.
Because a Nigerian law firm already owned BlackPearlLegal.com, I had to use a different name for my website and my persona. As such, Black Pearl Legal Information Services P.C. will do business as JDRosenlaw.
I will continue to provide weekly summaries of opinions relevant to your criminal defense practice. This includes both quick reference mini summaries, and the detailed practical analysis and commentary focused on the needs of Colorado's criminal defense community.
What we started back in 2011 has grown into one of the longest-running legal information resources of its kind in Colorado. We are not done.
